What are they for? I find no explanations for the reasons for these versions and when they should be used. MRJ 2.2.5 = JDK 1.1.8 = JRE 1.1.8 and therefore a Java application written on a Mac with MRJ 2.2.5 will run properly on a Windows 98 machine with JRE 1.1.8. Java 6 only works on Max OS X 10.5, if I got that correctly. Sun doesn't distribute Java for Mac OS X.

How do I get the documentation to work properly? When I hover over the code there is a pop-up box that says something about JavaDoc not being installed. There is only Windows, Linux and Solaris. When I try and download, there does not seem to be an option for Max OS X. A lot of the examples are applets that say 'JDK 6 required'. I'm working through The Java Tutorial online.
